Efya

Efya was born on April 10, 1987, in Kumasi, Ghana, to Nana Adwoa Awindor, a renowned filmmaker and celebrity host. Raised in a family with a background in music and theater, Efya discovered her musical talents at a young age. After secondary education at Yaa Asantewaa Girls' Senior High School, she pursued her passion for music, receiving voice training from family members.

In 2008, Efya gained national recognition by participating in Charterhouse's Stars of The Future television show, where she became the first runner-up and secured a three-year recording deal. She later embarked on her solo career, adopting the stage name Efya, and signed a recording deal with One Nation Entertainment in 2011.

Efya's musical journey has been filled with remarkable accomplishments. She has won the Best Female Vocal Performance category at the Ghana Music Awards for four consecutive years since 2011. Her debut mixtape, T.I.N.T. (This Is Not The Album), released in 2013, showcased her Afro-soul sound and garnered significant attention. Throughout her career, Efya has delivered captivating performances at various events, including the MTN Ghana Music Awards, the Hope City Launch Celebration Concert with Chris Brown, and the Girl Talk concert, headlined by Becca.

In April 2016, Efya released her debut studio album, "Janesis." The album received critical acclaim and featured hit singles like "Forgetting Me" and "One of Your Own" featuring Bisa Kdei. Efya's music delves into themes of love, heartbreak, and personal experiences, resonating with her diverse audience. Apart from her studio album, Efya has released numerous singles, each showcasing her exceptional vocal prowess and versatility in the music industry.

Beyond her musical success, Efya is actively involved in philanthropy. She serves as an official ambassador for the Awal Children of the Future Foundation (ACOTF), a non-profit organization focused on helping victims of physical and emotional trauma, particularly orphans and street kids. Through her association with ACOTF, Efya contributes to positive change and social impact.

Efya's sound is a fusion of Afro-soul with a touch of pop, with its fluctuating nature depending on her emotions and collaborations. She credits her musical influences to the likes of Kojo Antwi, Aretha Franklin, and The Temptations. Efya's interest in old-school jazz and highlife from her upbringing adds depth to her music.
