Having been born in 1940, Charles Wereko-Brobby pursued engineering studies at Kwame Nkrumah University and became a member of the Ghana Society of Engineers.
Wereko-Brobby became Chief Executive of Ghana's Volta River Authority, improving efficiency, expanding services, and boosting power generation and distribution. He again appointed Ghana's Minister of Energy . He made a substantial contribution to Ghana's energy sector's growth and diversification during his time in office.
Wereko-Brobby, as a member of the New Patriotic Party, announced his resignation. He resigned as a result of differences with the party's leadership over his position on certain political matters. The United Ghana Movement, a political pressure organization, was subsequently established by him.
Following his divorce from Joyce Aryee, the former CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines and ex-information secretary for the PNDC, he entered matrimony with Harriet Wilson. Additionally, he is the nephew of Victor Owusu and holds the distinction of being a founding member of the NPP.
