Early Life and Education

Growing up in the first family, Zanetor Rawlings led a somewhat sheltered life until 1998 when her involvement in romantic relationships brought her into the public eye. These relationships led to accusations of human rights violations, particularly against her mother. One incident involved her boyfriend, Selassie O'Sullivan-Djentuh, who was reportedly arrested, detained at the Osu Castle (the presidential seat at the time), and subjected to a disturbing ordeal of having his head shaved with a broken bottle. These events exposed her to media scrutiny and criticism at a young age.

Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, was born on June 1, 1978, in Accra, Ghana. Zanetor received her early education at North Ridge Lyceum and Achimota School in Ghana. Later, in 1995, she enrolled in Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast. Continuing her academic pursuits, she pursued tertiary education at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, where she earned her medical degree.

After completing her medical education, Zanetor Rawlings worked as a doctor in General Practice. However, she embarked on a new path in politics, driven by her affiliation with the NDC, the party founded by her father.
