Derek Owusu Boateng, born on May 2, 1983, in Accra, Ghana, is a professional football player who has left an indelible mark on the sport.
Hailing from Accra, Derek Owusu Boateng honed his football skills while playing for the local team Liberty Professionals.
Boateng represented Ghana at various tournaments, including the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2001, where Ghana reached the final. He later made appearances for Ghana in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups, playing a vital role in their quarter-final run in the latter tournament.

Boateng's European journey continued when he signed a four-year contract with 1. FC Köln in January 2009. However, he moved to Getafe CF in Spain after just seven months. Over his two seasons at Getafe CF, Boateng made several appearances and scored two goals.
In June 2011, Boateng embarked on a new chapter by joining FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine. Although his playing time diminished in the subsequent season, he remained committed to the club until his eventual departure.
After stints with Fulham in the English Premier League and various clubs in Spain, Boateng's career took him to Rayo OKC in the North American Soccer League and OFI Crete F.C. in the Football League. These experiences allowed him to share his knowledge and contribute to the growth of the clubs he joined.
Boateng's remarkable journey has been marked by numerous accolades. He won the Superettan with AIK in 2005, secured back-to-back Israeli Premier League titles with Beitar Jerusalem in 2006-07 and 2007-08, and triumphed in the Israel State Cup in 2008. His achievements were recognized with the title of 2007-08 Israeli Premier League Best Foreign Player of the Year.
