Early life and education

Dayo, who hails from Jos, Nigeria, was raised in Lagos and has the company of four siblings. His father, a former customs officer, comes from Nigeria, while his mother, a literature teacher, originates from Kenya. The family relocated from Nigeria to Indiana, United States in 2003 before eventually settling in California. Dayo completed his undergraduate studies in visual communications at Anderson University (Indiana)

Awards and recognition

During the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Dayo Okeniyi was honored with the Best International Actor award. Furthermore, his remarkable talent was recognized at the 2021 52nd NAACP Image Awards, where he received a nomination for Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in a Motion Picture.

Career

Before landing a role in The Hunger Games, Okeniyi honed his acting skills in community theater and short films. He gained recognition for his performance in the 2014 drama film Endless Love and took on the role of Danny Dyson in the 2015 movie Terminator Genisys. Additionally, he starred in the NBC series Shades of Blue. Okeniyi is currently slated to appear in the film Fresh, which is set to be screened at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
