Daniel Kwaku Botwe is a Ghanaian politician who has held various ministerial positions and is currently the Member of Parliament for Okere constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Dan Kwaku Botwe, born on February 26, 1958, in Ghana's Eastern Region, attended schools in Ashanti and Achimota before pursuing a computer science degree at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
During his time at KNUST, he served as the national secretary of NUGS from 1982 to 1983, but his activism led to exile during military rule. Upon returning, he worked as a computer analyst at the Ghana cocoa board before transitioning to private business in 1993.
Botwe won the NPP General Secretary election in 1998, played a key role in electing John Kufour as President in 2000, and held various roles in the party, earning praise from President Akufo-Addo for leading the party from opposition to government in 2001.
Between 2006 and 2007, Botwe assumed the role of Minister for Information within the John Agyekum Kufour administration, taking over from Kwamina Bartels.
Dan Botwe became the Member of Parliament for Okere in 2008, winning with 60.8% of the vote, and continued to win in subsequent elections. He also served as the minority chief whip in the 6th Parliament from 2013 to 2017 and supported the development of his constituency, including promising support for Dreams FC.
