Daniel Amartey made his debut for the Ghana national under-20 football team in 2012 and played in the 2015 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, with Ghana finishing as runners-up in 2015 and being eliminated early in 2021, while also featuring in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations where Ghana finished fourth and he was named in the CAF Team of the tournament.
