Chris Hemsworth was born on August 11, 1983, in Melbourne, Australia. He is the second of three boys born to Leonie, a teacher of English, and Craig Hemsworth, a social-services counselor. His brothers Luke and Liam Hemsworth are also actors. Hemsworth spent his early childhood with his family in Melbourne and in the Outback in Bulman, Northern Territory.

In 2004, Chris Hemsworth landed his breakthrough role as Kim Hyde in the popular Australian soap opera 'Home and Away'. He became a regular on the show, which helped him gain fame in Australia.
