Chioma Akpotha was born on March 12, 1971, in Lagos State and hails from Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria. Her parents, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka and Grace Egoyibo Chukwuka, played a pivotal role in inspiring her education and career path. Chioma has five siblings. She attended Onward Elementary School in Lagos for her primary and first certificate education, and later moved to Onitsha College for girls. Continuing her educational journey, she completed her secondary education at Federal Government Girls College in Onitsha, Anambra State. Chioma pursued higher education at Lagos State University, studying Banking and Finance.

Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha's acting career took off with her debut in the movie "The Apple" in 2000, followed by her role in "The Handkerchief" in the same year. Her breakthrough came in 2007 when she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for "Best Actress in a Leading Role" for her remarkable performance in the movie "Sins of the Flesh." This award brought her immense recognition and further solidified her position in the industry. In 2014, she was nominated for the African Movie Academy Award for "Best Actress" for her role in the film "Accident."
