Dr. Forson was born on August 5, 1978, in the town of Ajumako Bisease, situated in the Central Region of Ghana.
In 2003, Forson earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Accounting and Finance. Continuing his academic pursuit, he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Economics (Macro-Economics) in 2016. His dedication to education reached its pinnacle when he achieved a Ph.D. in Finance in 2020; in the same year, he acquired an MSc in Taxation, specializing in Tax and Public Policy. His academic journey was not limited to Ghana. Dr. Forson also holds a Master of Science in Taxation from the prestigious University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Before these academic achievements, he completed his first degree in accounting at the South Bank University in London.
Forson served as the Managing Director of Concepts-Online LTD. Later, he ventured into the public sector, where he took on the role of Deputy Minister of Finance within the Government of Ghana. His professional journey also led him to become the Chairman of OMEGA Africa Holding LTD.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson's political journey began when he joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He embarked on his parliamentary career in 2009 after winning the 2008 elections, representing the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana. In the 2008 general elections, he secured a significant win, garnering 51.66% of the total votes cast.
Forson's success continued in the 2012 elections, where he obtained 24,752 votes which represented 52.67% of the total votes cast.
In 2013, he took on the role of Deputy Minister for Finance, a position that allowed him to serve on Ghana's Economic Management Team. He also sat on several important boards, including those of the Bank of Ghana and Ghana Cocoa Board. As Ghana's Alternate Governor at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, his expertise was instrumental.
In the 2016 elections, Forson once again emerged victorious, receiving 53.55% of the total votes cast. He contested against Ransford Emmanuel Kwesi Nyarko, Jerry Henry Quansah, Sarah Mensah, and Monica Daapong.
His leadership qualities were on full display when he chaired the committee responsible for implementing the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System Reforms (GIFMIS). He held key positions in various parliamentary committees, including the Finance Committee, House Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Committee of Selection Committee. Dr. Forson also served as Vice Chairperson of the Special Budget Committee.
