The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League Finals were held in Busan, South Korea from June 27 to July 1. The 2016 event featured more than 300 films from 69 countries, offering a platform for new filmmakers and cultural exchange.

The Busan New Port, officially opened on December 28, 2015, is one of the largest container ports in the world and a critical component of Busan’s maritime and logistics sectors. This new port greatly expanded the capacity for international trade, reinforcing Busan’s status as a global shipping center. With state-of-the-art facilities, the Busan New Port plays a vital role in the economic development of the region and South Korea as a whole.

The G-Star 2014 game convention was held from November 13-16 in Busan, South Korea. G-Star is Korea’s biggest game industry event and one of the most significant gaming conventions globally. This convention has become a must-attend event for developers and gaming enthusiasts worldwide. In 2014, G-Star showcased over 2,500 booths with participation from major international gaming companies, highlighting Busan's role as a hub for the gaming industry.

The 14th Asian Games took place in Busan from September 29 to October 14, 2002, marking the first time South Korea hosted the event outside its capital, Seoul. The games featured 44 nations with over 9,500 athletes competing in 38 sports. The event enhanced Busan’s profile as a vibrant international city, showcasing its ability to host large-scale international events and highlighting South Korean culture and athletic prowess.

On December 18, 1995, the first line of the Busan Subway, Line 1, was opened to the public. This was a significant development in the city's transit infrastructure, improving public transportation dramatically. It stretched a length of approximately 32km and had 34 stations at the time of opening. This accomplishment was crucial in helping alleviate the heavy traffic congestion in Busan, South Korea’s second largest city.

The Battle of Inchon was a major turning point in the Korean War, leading to the recapture of Seoul. This battle was launched by United Nations forces, with General Douglas MacArthur leading the amphibious invasion near the port city of Incheon.
