Bukky Wright

Bukky Wright was born on 31 March 1967 in Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State, South-west Nigeria, to a Christian father and a Muslim mother, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of her heritage. Hailing from the Yoruba tribe, she spent most of her childhood in Abeokuta with her parents. Although she keeps her family life private, her upbringing has undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping her identity and career.

Wright's educational journey began in Abeokuta, where she attended a local school in the 1970s. She obtained the mandatory West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate and the Senior School leaving Certificate (SSCE) during her time there. Subsequently, she pursued higher education at the esteemed University of Lagos in Lagos State, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics.

In 1996, at the age of 29, Bukky Wright kick-started her acting career in the television series "Super Story," produced by the renowned Wale Adenuga. Her exceptional talent captured the attention of producers and directors of Yoruba-based films, propelling her to become one of the most sought-after actresses in Western Nigeria. Fluent in the Yoruba language, she seamlessly transitioned into English-based Nollywood films, delivering notable performances in movies such as "Red Hot," "When Love Happens," "Omatara Johnson," "Abeni," "OutKast," "Unforgivable," "Ghetto Hood," and many others. Throughout her career, she has acted alongside esteemed actors such as Patience Ozokwor, Olu Jacobs, Kenneth Okonkwo, and Liz Benson, earning widespread acclaim and love from audiences.

Beyond her acting prowess, Bukky Wright has excelled in various entrepreneurial ventures. She is the founder of B Collection, a renowned Spa, and also manages a boutique specializing in female wear in Lagos State. Additionally, she established her own record label company, Wright Media International, showcasing her diverse interests and business acumen.

Wright has also ventured into politics, demonstrating her passion for societal change and leadership. In the 2014 general election, she contested for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) platform, showcasing her dedication to making a difference beyond the entertainment industry.
