Bovi Ugboma was born on September 25th, 1979, in Benin City, Nigeria. His journey began in Benin City, Nigeria, where he attended the UNIBEN staff school for his primary education. He later moved on to Government College, Ughelli in Delta State, before eventually settling at Boys Model Secondary School, Onicha-Olona, an all-boarding school. Upon completing his secondary education, Bovi gained admission to Delta State University in 1998, where he pursued a degree in Theatre Arts.
In April 2007, Bovi's career took a significant leap forward when he starred in the sitcom "Extended Family," a show he also wrote and produced. This sitcom garnered immense popularity, establishing Bovi as a rising force in the Nigerian comedy scene. By 2008, he was a sought-after comedian, performing at various comedy shows and events across the country.
Bovi's big break as a stand-up comedian came in 2013 when he participated in the "Nite of 1000 Laughs," organized by Opa Williams. This marked the beginning of his successful "Man on Fire" stand-up comedy franchise. In 2014, Bovi's first stand-up special, "Bovi Man on Fire," took place at the prestigious Eko Convention Center and featured international superstars Ja Rule and Ashanti. The show was a massive success, leading Bovi to take his one-man special to numerous cities worldwide, including the United States, London, Melbourne, and Toronto.
After a three-year hiatus, Bovi revived the "Man on Fire" franchise in Lagos in 2017, achieving even greater success. The fourth edition of the show took place in April 2019 and marked the conclusion of the "Man on Fire" franchise, with Bovi planning to explore new horizons for his next special. In 2018, he launched the "BACK TO SCHOOL" series on his YouTube channel, further showcasing his comedic talent and expanding his online presence.
Beyond stand-up comedy, Bovi ventured into the film industry, premiering his first movie, "It's Her Day," in September 2016. The film received a nomination for Best Actor in Comedy at the AMVCA Awards and performed well at the box office, grossing 55 million Naira.
Bovi is happily married to his wife, Christabel Ugboma, and together they have two children. Alongside his successful career, Bovi has received numerous accolades, including Comedian of the Year at Culture People and Awards Ghana, as well as Best Youth Comedian at the Standup Comedians Award. He has collaborated with several renowned Nigerian comedians such as Basketmouth, I Go Dye, I Go Save, Buchi, Odogwu, Okey Bakassi, and Julius Agwu.
