Bernard Okoe-Boye

Bernard Okoe-Boye is a Ghanaian politician, who represented Ledzokuku Constituency in the Seventh Parliament and now heads the National Health Insurance Agency, responsible for the National Health Insurance Scheme in Ghana.

Early life and Education

He is a member of parliament who is from Teshie, which is part of the Ledzokuku Constituency.He received his Basic Education Certificate from the Field Engineers Junior High School. Okoe-Boye graduated from the Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (Presec-Legon) in the year 2000, where he was a former student. Bernard Okoe Boye has a medical license and graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a BSC in human biology, medicine, and surgery.He also has an A1 qualification in German from the Geothe Institute, Accra, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Hamburg School of Applied Science.

Career

From 2009 to 2011 at the Central Regional Hospital's Department of Surgery, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology in Cape Coast, Okoe-Boye worked as a house doctor for the Ghana Health Service before moving on to the Department of Internal Medicine at Tema General Hospital.He subsequently continued working there as a medical officer for another four years at the La General Hospital, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Kibi Government Hospital. Oko-Boye worked as a medical officer at the LekMA Hospital in Accra before becoming a member of parliament.

Okoe-Boye was appointed to be the deputy health minister by President Akufo-Addo on April 4 and took office on April 21 after being sworn in.In contrast, Benjamin Ayiku Narteh of the NDC won the Ledzokuku parliamentary seat in the 2020 general election in Ghana, which he lost.
