Bernard Ahiafor received his early education at Abor Senior High School, where he obtained his O Level qualification, he continued with an A-Level education at Keta Secondary School. Furthering his education, Bernard Ahiafor pursued a Bachelor's Degree from the esteemed University of Ghana. His commitment to the legal field led him to achieve a Barrister and Solicitor's Degree from the Ghana School of Law. Additionally, he obtained a Diploma in Insurance from the Ghana Insurance College, showcasing his dedication to lifelong learning.
Bernard Ahiafor worked as a member of the legal teams at both Justking & Associates and Kwame Gyan & Associates. His expertise in the legal field is further exemplified by his position as the Head of Legal and Claims at Star Assurance Co. Ltd.
Ahiafor's allegiance lies with the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He made his entry into parliamentary representation during the constituency's 2012 by-election. This contest arose due to the then-MP, Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho, assuming the role of Speaker of Parliament. Ahiafor secured victory with 12,079 votes, marking his entrance into the Sixth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
His popularity and trust among the constituency further solidified in the 2016 general elections. Ahiafor was re-elected, garnering 16,916 votes, equivalent to 56.34% of the total votes.
Ahiafor's dominance in the political landscape continued in the 2020 general elections. Contesting once more under the NDC banner, he secured a significant victory with 31,624 votes, amounting to an impressive 83.71% of the total votes cast. His closest opponent, Leo-Nelson Adzigdogah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 5,550 votes, reflecting the unwavering support Ahiafor commands within the constituency.
