Life and music career

Rebecca Acheampong, born in Kumasi, Ghana, was an active participant in church and school activities during her childhood, attended Morning Star and Wesley Girls' High School, pursued her passion for singing in talent shows, later becoming a child care and education worker after graduating from Croydon College. She relocated to Ghana, signed with Kiki Banson's EKB Records, studied at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, and obtained a master's degree in brands and communication management from the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) where she became valedictorian.

In 2007, Becca released her debut studio album "Sugar," featuring 12 songs recorded in English and Twi, including the lead single "You Lied to Me" with vocals by Kwabena Kwabena and a collaboration with Hugh Masekela on the song "I Love You," and the album was launched in both Ghana and South Africa alongside Hugh Masekela's album, "Live at the Market Theatre."
