The Battle of Lechfeld took place near Augsburg on August 10, 955. It was a decisive victory for the forces of the German king Otto I the Great over the Hungarian invaders. The battle marked the end of Hungarian invasions of Western Europe. Otto's forces, although initially surprised by the Hungarians, managed to rally and deliver a crushing defeat to the enemy, effectively ending the Hungarian threat to Europe.
