Antonio Delgado

Antonio Delgado was born on January 28, 1977, in Schenectady, New York. He grew up in a working-class family and went on to achieve academic success, becoming the first in his family to attend college. Delgado's early experiences in Schenectady, coupled with his parents' emphasis on education, significantly influenced his future career in public service and politics.

On November 6, 2018, Antonio Delgado was elected as the U.S. Representative for New York's 19th congressional district. Delgado, a Democrat, won the election against incumbent Republican Representative John Faso. His campaign focused on issues such as healthcare, education, and economic development, resonating particularly with rural voters. Delgado's victory was part of a broader Democratic wave during the 2018 midterm elections.

Antonio Delgado was officially inaugurated as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives on January 3, 2019. During his tenure, Delgado focused on issues such as rural broadband expansion, healthcare access, and veterans' services. He served on the Agriculture, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Small Business committees, advocating for policies beneficial to his constituents in New York's 19th congressional district.

On May 25, 2022, Governor Kathy Hochul appointed Antonio Delgado as the Lieutenant Governor of New York, succeeding Brian Benjamin. Delgado's appointment was part of Governor Hochul's efforts to solidify leadership following Benjamin's resignation. As Lieutenant Governor, Delgado worked to address statewide issues, including economic recovery and infrastructure development, leveraging his experience as a congressional representative.
