Adeje

The conquest of Tenerife was completed in December 1496 by the Spanish conquerors under Alonso Fernández de Lugo. The island of Tenerife was the last of the Canary Islands to fall to the Crown of Castile. The conquest marked the end of the island's defense by the native Guanches and their assimilation into the Spanish Empire. This development has helped accommodate the growing number of tourists visiting Tenerife, facilitating better access to Adeje and enhancing the tourism infrastructure of the region. The first Adeje Arts Festival was held on October 15, 2021, celebrating various expressions of art and culture through a series of exhibitions, performances, and workshops. On March 20, 2023, the Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide, located in the Teide National Park near Adeje, reopened after extensive renovations.
