Early Years

4x4 is a prominent Ghanaian hip hop musical group that emerged in the year 2000. Formed by Captain Planet (Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey) and Coded, previously known as Abortion (Russell Edem Avornyo), the group's inception was made possible with the assistance of Ronnie Coches and Bright Bling Sparkles (Buk Bak). Renowned for their unique style, they are credited with introducing the crunk genre to Ghana's music scene.

Early Career and Formation

Captain Planet and Abortion were initially discovered by Buk Bak through their participation in the Kiddafest TV program, which aimed to showcase young musical talent. The name "4x4" symbolizes the four individuals who played key roles in the group's creation: Ronnie, Bright, Abortion, and Captain Planet. Under the guidance of Buk Bak, the duo released their debut album titled "Siklitele" in 2003.

Rise to Fame and Achievements

The year 2009 witnessed the release of 4x4's platinum album, "World Trade Center," which included the titular song that reached number one on the singles chart in Ghana. Notably, this track also became the first and only Ghanaian song to make it to the Urban Charts in Africa. Furthermore, the group's single "Waist and Power" garnered over 600,000 views on YouTube.
